Library Offers Array of Nonprofit Resources – Including Upcoming Webinar
You have a worthy cause, a mission, and you’ve formed a nonprofit to pursue it. Now, you need funding.
Start that search at the Library.
Through Candid, the world's largest source of information on nonprofits, foundations, and grants, the Kansas City Public Library offers an array of resources to both organizations and individuals seeking nonprofit backing. Using keywords specifying the subject area, population served, support strategy, and other considerations, searchers can identify grant makers that are more likely to fund particular proposals.
Available resources include the new Nonprofit Startup Assessment Tool, as well as Foundation Directory Online, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online, GrantSpace, and 990 Finder. They provide in-depth information on grants, grant makers, 501(c)(3) organizations, nonprofit foundations and Internal Revenue Service 990 information forms.
Kevin Flattery works as a fundraising consultant to area nonprofits of all sizes and shapes through his 6½-year-old firm KLF Development Consulting. Library resources and guidance have been “invaluable,” he says.
“Kelly Mahon (the Library’s nonprofit specialist) particularly has provided excellent advice and data that have saved time and resulted directly in major gifts to my clients,” Flattery says.
The Library is offering a free webinar, Bolster Your Grant Proposal Using Library Resources, on Thursday, January 16, at 2 p.m.
Learn more by scheduling a personal appointment with Mahon via email (kellymahon@kclibrary.org) or by calling him at the Library at 816.701.3568.
