Flourish Furniture Bank Logistics Coordinator VISTA
As THE furniture bank of Kansas City, Flourish provides whole-home furnishings to clients referred by local social service agencies. Flourish partners with 67 agencies in the KC area that provide wrap-around housing, employment, and health support to clients. Flourish creates a personal experience for our clients, empowering them to establish a safe, permanent, and comfortable home. In 2022, Flourish served 881 families and individuals, creating furnished homes for 2,244 household members. Volunteers collected, repaired, and distributed 36,797 items, diverting 308 tons of unwanted furniture from the landfill.

Duties and Responsibilities

The VISTA member will provide key assistance in creating and coordinating an in-kind donation pick-up and delivery logistics process, as well as assist with the furniture bank logistics database development and implementation. This will increase the number of donated household and furniture items coming into our facility. This will increase our ability to impact those coming out of poverty and homelessness in the KC area on a long term, sustainable basis.

Requirements

Eligibility Requirements for AmeriCorps VISTA:

  • Be 18 years or older.
  • Pass a national service criminal history check.
  • Hold one of the following statuses: US Citizen, LPR, refugee, asylee, DACA, or TPS.
