Resilient Kansas City—How Design Can Help Build Resilient Communities

The Fall 2025 Kansas City Design Center studio explored how design can strengthen neighborhood resilience in response to climate and social challenges. Aligned with KCDC’s mission to advance public design awareness and collectively envision the future of Kansas City’s built environment, Architecture and Industrial Design students partnered with the Dunbar neighborhood and More2.

The studio also collaborated with Focal Design Studio, an award-winning firm with extensive experience supporting Kansas City organizations on resilience hubs, bringing valuable professional insight into resilient design strategies.

In this program, learn about the making of the Resilient KC exhibition and how the student projects foster neighborhood self-sufficiency and strenghten community ties. The exhibition will be on view through January 23 at the Central Library's West Mezzanine on the second floor.
