***This event is being rescheduled for a future date; check back for updates soon.

The Kansas City Baroque Consortium has been one of the city’s cultural jewels since 2009, specializing in the performance of early music on period instruments. The ensemble of professional musicians offers a preview of its upcoming summer series, Music from the Age of Enlightenment, with a special afternoon concert spotlighting an era that moved the musical aesthetic toward the Classical period.

Included are works for the chalumeau (early clarinet), music by German luminary Georg Philipp Telemann and his forward-thinking circle of fellow composers, and a look at musical life in colonial America. The performance provides a rich cultural canvas for examining music and thought in the 18th century.
