Going to the Oscars

Just before the 2018 Oscars are presented, the Library screens three uplifting, Academy Award-winning or nominated shorts in the latest installment of its special, intergenerational movie series for individuals with dementia, their friends, and families.

The afternoon starts with live music from the KC Boys Choir and free popcorn. Then, the films: Glas (1958), the short documentary about the art of glass blowing in the Netherlands; Joe’s Violin (2016), the inspiring story of a Holocaust survivor who donated his violin to a local instrument drive, changing the life of a New York City schoolgirl; and Room on the Broom (2012), a humorous and meaningful animated film about friendship and family.
