On behalf of everyone at the Kansas City Public Library and the Truman Library Institute, we would like to thank you for attending United States Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer's discussion of his new book Making Our Democracy Work: A Judge's View on Thursday, December 8, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Kansas City Public Library's Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.
Due to the overwhelming interest in this event, we are anticipating the Library parking garage will reach capacity.
Our good friends at UMB Bank have agreed to make overflow parking available in the UMB Bank parking garage (49th Street, west of the bank building) and at the UMB Bank surface lot (50th Street, south of the bank building). Library staff will be on hand at both the Library and the UMB Bank building, as well as at the intersection of 49th and Main, to direct patrons to the most convenient parking location. The UMB Bank parking garage will be open to Library patrons starting at 12:30 p.m. Proceeding directly to that location might provide a better parking experience for individuals arriving early.
The map below illustrates the location of the Kansas City Public Library Plaza Branch as well as the UMB Bank parking garage and surface lot.
The auditorium doors will open to the public at approximately 1:30 p.m. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they are seated prior to the 2 p.m. start time.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us at 816.701.3407.
We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that persons who RSVP'd after November 28, 2011, may be seated in an overflow room where the event will be broadcast via closed-circuit television. If additional auditorium seating becomes available, we will move individuals from the overflow room to the auditorium on a first-come, first-served basis.
