(Kansas City, Missouri) - Neil McIntyre - aka Mr. Kneel - has performed across the United States and abroad, bringing young audiences to their feet in school, libraries, auditoriums, and stadiums.
The Boulder, Colorado, musician brings his blend of positive, inspiring hip-hop and beatboxing to the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St., on Friday, May 29, 2015. It's one of two Friday Night Family Fun offerings during the month.
Also in May, students in the Owen/Cox Dance Group's Take the Stage Program perform to live music alongside their teachers and mentors in the joyful Dancing in the Stacks: A Celebration of Children's Books and Literature on Friday, May 15.
Both events begin at 6:30 p.m. and are appropriate for all ages.
McIntyre has appeared as Mr. Kneel since graduating from the University of Colorado with a degree in communications and media studies in 1998. He also works with the nationwide Why Try Program, designed to help at-risk kids overcome their challenges, and Rachel's Challenge, an outreach program for the prevention of teen violence based on the life and writings of Rachel Scott, the first student killed in the Columbine High School shootings in 1999.
The Owen/Cox Dance Group, founded in 2007, brings high-quality dance education to underserved populations. Its performance features live music and showcases more than 100 students from Holy Cross, Our Lady of the Angels and Hartman elementary schools who have participated in its in-school residency program this year.
