Library, Metro Sports to Partner for Theatrical Premiere of
Two Documentaries – Border War and CityBall

The Kansas City Public Library and Metro Sports partner for the theatrical premieres of two feature-length documentaries in November 2008 in the Truman Forum at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St.

Fans of local sports and history will be treated to the premiere of Border War on Monday, November 3, at 6:30 p.m. The documentary, produced by Metro Sports and scheduled to begin showing on the network on November 26, examines the history of the athletic rivalry between the University of Missouri and the University of Kansas.

Produced by Emmy award winner Erik Ashel, Border War offers a powerful look at the only American college rivalry derived from actual warfare, explaining how events that occurred 150 years ago continue to affect Kansans and Missourians today.

The premiere of CityBall, a documentary depicting a year in the life of student athletes in the Kansas City (Missouri) School District, is set for Thursday, November 6, at 6:30 p.m.

Produced by Emmy Award winner Stephen Spiegel, CityBall offers a compelling look at the unique challenges faced by students in the Interscholastic League – from below average facilities and coaching turnover to violent crime and the need to work multiple jobs to help support a family.

A 5:30 p.m. reception precedes each event. Admission is free. Call 816.701.3407 to indicate your interest in attending or you may RSVP online.
