DIY: Build Your Online Presence

Kansas City Public Library Tech Access presents...

A series of courses to help small businesses, nonprofits, neighborhood associations use free online resources to build an online presence.

Most of your clients or potential clients are online. They engage via smartphone, computer, gaming console, smart TV and more! Are you missing opportunities to connect and inform?

Perhaps it all just seems too overwhelming or maybe all the technology and professional services are too expensive. In just a couple hours per week you can not only build your own website, marketing materials and social media platforms but the skills required to maintain an online presence for your business, nonprofit or neighborhood association.

Thanks to the library and the support of your peer learners, you CAN do this for your business or organization.

Bring in your lunch and learn about the tools we'll be working with in the first hour of each session. Then the second hour of each session will be a workshop designed for you to put your new skills to work building your actual projects!

DIY Classes

BUILD-A-WEBSITE

Tuesdays | Jan 22-Feb 12 | 5-7 pm
How do people find more information about your business or organization?
Build a website in 5 weeks using Wix. We’ll make sense of the subscription levels, use a template to design a homepage, create a site-map and more.
By the end of this course, you will have at least a FREE basic live website and know how to maintain it. We’ll give you a coupon too for when you’re ready to take your website to the next level!

EMAIL MARKETING/NEWSLETTERS

Fridays | Feb 1-8 | 11:30 am-1:30 pm
Newsletters or emails can be powerful tools. Learn how to utilize MailChimp to make your life easier, look professional, and communicate effectively. In this course, you will open a free MailChimp account and build your first newsletter.

FACEBOOK PAGE

Tuesdays | Feb 19-26 | 5-7 pm
Is anyone even on Facebook anymore? YES! Over 75% of Americans still use Facebook. It’s a free and super simple way to connect. By the end of this course, you will have a Facebook  profile for your business or organization and understand how to post updates and announcements.

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Tuesdays | March 5-12 | 5-7 pm
How can you save a ton of money and still have great looking graphic design? Be your own graphic designer by using Canva! By the end of this course you will have a free Canva account and create your choice of brochure, flyer, poster or business card.

OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA

Fridays | Feb 15-22 | 11:30 am-1:30 pm
Nextdoor, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, etc.
What are the differences between all these platforms and is any of it worth your time? In this course you will learn about social media, understand which accounts are relevant to your business, and get help getting started.

All sessions will occur at the Plaza Branch of The Kansas City Public Library, 4801 Main Street KCMO. Open to everyone. Space is limited; registration is required.
