Veteran Writing Workshop - Session 3: Completing Your Work
The 2019 Veterans Writing Workshops are designed to help veterans, active military, and their family members develop the writing and narrative skills that can empower them to tell their stories, whether they be true-life accounts or wholly original tales. For many veterans, having a safe and creative outlet to share their thoughts and experiences or explore their original ideas can be rewarding and enriching.
SESSION 3: Completing Your Work
For Session 3, participants will look at their writing from a location standpoint and drill down to the heart of the story, which feeds naturally into the mapping collage of Session 4. Writing exercises focus on the vets writing and then sharing aloud for critique from the group.
Registration deadline September 25.
September 14: Session 1 - Poetry Writing
September 21: Session 2 - Prose Writing
September 28: Session 3 - Completing Your Work
October 5: Session 4 - Mapping Collage
October 12: Session 5 - Program Wrap-Up
All sessions run 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the Plaza Branch, 4801 Main St. Light refreshments provided. The workshop is free and open to past or present military members and family members of veterans. Attendees must register for each session and are strongly encouraged to attend all five.
