Veteran Writing Workshop - Session 1: Poetry
The 2019 Veterans Writing Workshops are designed to help veterans, active military, and their family members develop the writing and narrative skills that can empower them to tell their stories, whether they be true-life accounts or wholly original tales. For many veterans, having a safe and creative outlet to share their thoughts and experiences or explore their original ideas can be rewarding and enriching.
SESSION 1: Poetry
In Session 1, a professional writer will guide you through the process of writing poetry. You’ll review the basic tools of poetry and engage in writing exercises. Perhaps you never thought of poetry as story, but you’ll realize its powerful possibilities at the end of this session and be surprised at how learning poetry can impact prose writing, as well. Participants may work on existing or new writings.
