The Library begins a monthlong celebration of Hollywood and its annual Academy Award coronation by spotlighting one of its most notable Oscar … nonwinners. Tom Cruise earned a nomination, but no statuette, for his impassioned portrayal of paralyzed Vietnam War vet turned anti-war activist Ron Kovic in Born on the Fourth of July (1989; R).
