Writing Found Poems
Sometimes, a poet reads an old postcard, billboard, graffiti, or newspaper and sees that a poem, with a few poetic adjustments, can be released from its bonds of prose.
In this four-week course, we will write a poem each week using words that someone else has written, giving them new meaning and insight. The interplay between the source and the new poem adds another layer of meaning.
Found poems can take any form, many with their own rules and methods that add a dimension of problem solving to writing poetry.
Space is limited, and students will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. An RSVP is required to secure your spot. You will be sent a link to access the course in the days preceding the first class.
