The Kansas City Public Library—Ruiz Branch
2017 W. Pennway St., Kansas City, MO 64108
FREE— No Reservation Required
This workshop will explain methods for “putting up” fruits and veggies – including freezing, canning, drying, pickling, making jam, curing, and cold storage. Basics about potatoes, sweet potatoes, and winter squash will be addressed, but tips for curing garlic will be discussed in detail.
Master Gardener Janet Day, who has been cultivating crops since she was a child, will be the presenter. Janet enjoys gardening on her “non-traditional lawn,” as well as in a community garden – where she grows and harvests sweet potatoes, white potatoes, garlic and more.
Admission is FREE.
