Cheryl is young, Black, and lesbian, working in Philadelphia with her best friend Tamara and consumed by a film project: to make a video about her search for a Black actress from Philly who appeared in films in the 30s and was known as the Watermelon Woman.

Central Cinema Nights is a movie screening in the Central Library’s Durwood Film Vault taking place Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Join us as we watch and discuss documentaries and feature films in a socially conscious setting, chosen to fit a monthly theme. This month's theme: Celebrating Black History Month with Kanopy.

Join us this Feburary as we showcase
Black filmakers from our Kanopy collection.  Come in from the cold and enjoy world-class, award wining cinema from some of the brightest stars in the buisiness.  Don't worry if you can't make it; all these films can be streamed online with your library card.

Everyone is welcome! Movie screenings at the Central Library are always FREE and open to the public.
