In this two-week course, participants watch clips from Casablanca, Taxi Driver, The Sopranos, and other big- and small-screen features in studying how to “read” a production. They learn new language to thoughtfully articulate hot takes for every format, from blog entries and Letterboxd reviews to Twitter and Facebook posts.
- March 27: Learn the fundamentals of film language by watching various clips.
- April 3: Apply an understanding of film language to the craft of thoughtfully articulating opinions for social media posts, blog entries, or full-length critical reviews.
This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing.
