In this classic, Oscar-winning film full of thrills and dark humor, a put-upon Minneapolis car salesman (William H. Macy) hires two brutish, eccentric hitmen (Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare) to kidnap his wife so that he can demand a hefty ransom from her father - who also happens to be his boss. When the kidnapping goes wildly wrong, the pregnant police chief of a nearby small town (Frances McDormand, winning Best Actress for her performance) must pick up the pieces and unravel a twisting series of homicides, destruction and comically bad decisions spiraling further and further out of control.
