Grandpa and Grandma’s first meeting. Your parents’ journey to America. The birth of your first (or fifth) child. All families have stories, but many of them are lost simply because they aren’t written down. In this class, we’ll learn how to turn those tales from remembered anecdotes to polished prose, so they can be passed down to future generations as heirlooms.

We’ll cover:
• The importance of research (and what to do if you can’t investigate).
• Point of view (whose story is it, anyway?).
• Memory and nostalgia.

This class is taught by a graduate student in the University of Missouri-Kansas City’s MFA Program in Creative Writing
