Best known for his award-winning "Rabbit" series which included Rabbit, Run (1960), Rabbit Redux (1971), Rabbit is Rich (1981), and Rabbit at Rest (1990), he also wrote short stories, poetry, essays, and even works for children. Other popular books by Updike include The Witches of Eastwick (1984) and its sequel The Widows of Eastwick (2008), Of the Farm (1965), Couples (1968), and In the Beauty of the Lilies (1996).
