Among the Library’s many challenges at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic was staying in touch with Kansas City’s most vulnerable populations, keeping them connected to vital services despite their limited or lack of access to technology. The solution: Keep it simple.

The Library’s North-East location plans to reopen fairly quietly Thursday, December 17, 2020. There’ll be no splashy ceremony. Plans are to hold a public celebration sometime after the first of the year, as soon as it's safe, formally unveiling an extensively remodeled facility that reflects the rich diversity of its neighborhood. But we’ll say this up front: The Library, and Kansas City’s Historic Northeast, have a new jewel.

The Library’s Pop In / Pick Up holds service began Tuesday. May 19, 2020. Patrons were able to begin retrieving holds that were placed prior to March 15, when the Library’s physical locations closed. See how things went and learn what’s next.
