Under the direction of the Customer Services Manager, this full-time Coffee Shop Supervisor will be responsible for marketing and promoting the library’s café. Additionally, is responsible for both front of house (including customer service, procedures, and merchandising) and back of house (including scheduling, staffing levels, orders, and working with outside vendors). Provides outstanding customer service and café products in the Central Library’s new coffee shop. Responsibilities include making all types of coffee, milk, tea, and other drinks; maintaining a clean and sanitary environment; operating a cash register; handling money and reconciling register at end of shift; and assisting in receiving and storing stock and maintaining records. Requires bachelor’s degree and previous supervisory experience in a retail or food establishment or equivalent combination of education and experience. A current Kansas City food handlers permit is required. Must have the ability to work independently; excellent customer service skills; excellent communications skills; ability to handle cash and till reconciliation/cashing up; the ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift up to 40 lbs. Must have valid driver’s license and current insurance. 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-4:30 plus some evenings and weekends. Salary: $17.12 per hour DOQ plus excellent benefits. This position is open until filled.
